Scott Daley

I want you to experience the abundant life, no matter what may come. I hope to share the tools, practices, science, and biblical wisdom that help you, your relationships, and your work to flourish.

PosiCoach is an embodied result of my second vocational calling. My first calling as a "technology solutionist" included roles serving as a submariner in the U.S. Navy, a systems engineer for a defense contractor working on missile guidance systems, a mid-level leader in a retail software company, and a consulting data scientist.

I hold a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt. Both degrees are part of my preparation to focus more on helping people.

Small group ministries are also close to my heart. I have a long history of leading small groups, and I have developed and implemented programs and training for leaders. My wife and I belong to a small group-life fellowship, and I stay transparent with a small group of Christian men.

Though I've lived and worked in many places, I was born and raised in California. I enjoy sailing in the California Delta and San Francisco Bay, hiking, biking, skiing, building, and DIY projects. I volunteer my time and talents in my church and community as a group leader, speaker, facilitator, coach, and mentor.

My approach is tailored to each client, but it is generally collaborative. I ask most clients to complete quick measurement surveys immediately before and after we meet. Between-session actions are agreed upon.

I use tools and practices informed by evidence-based peer-reviewed science, leadership and planning best practices, and biblical wisdom broadly applicable to many streams of faith.

I believe that the specific components of a fulfilling, engaged, happy and significant life are unique to each person's context and calling. However, there are well-worn paths we can look to for inspiration and guidance. I envision clients living lives of abundant meaning, purpose, inner peace, and happiness that is primarily motivated by love for God and others as a response to God's goodness, grace, and love for us.

I serve to see healthy, whole, courageous, committed, and thriving people experiencing a life of significance under God

I was close to complete burnout. Working with Scott gave me the confidence I needed to make a career change. Those results alone are worth more than I can estimate.

I knew something wasn't right, but I was stuck in a rut. I was still going to community college, played in a band, and had other interests, but I felt uneasy and like I was wandering. I also wasn't happy depending on my parents and having them so involved in my stuff. Especially when I didn't have answers. Frankly, I was feeling like a loser. My dad found Scott and asked him to mentor me. At first, I resisted but Scott helped me see my life clearly and start making the changes I wanted. Now, I know my Dad is proud of what I'm doing with my life. So am I.

Since I'm a pastor, people assume that life and work decisions come quickly and easily for me. That's not always true. I knew Scott had worked with pastors before, and others trusted him. That trust is well placed. He understands ministry. But beyond that, he's a gifted coach and guide with spiritual depth, who listens and asks the right questions.

Case study

Mark is a battle-hardened marine who enlisted at 18, not long after 9-11. After leaving the Marine Corps, Mark searched for direction and something to replace the deep sense of brotherhood, mission, and competency he experienced in the Corps. Mark hired Scott and they worked through the PosiCoach coaching and life planning program.

During meetings with Scott, Mark was able to fully appreciate his commitment to serving his community and his character strengths related to courage, humanity, and justice.

A clear understanding of his values, experiences, and concern for his community helped Mark find work aligned with those qualities. Later, he made a career change that matched his developing life vision more closely and offered a more rewarding career path.

Mark benefited from Scott's skillful life planning facilitation, instruction, and coaching using tools informed by the science of positive psychology, studies in leadership, and timeless biblical wisdom.

The same tools, plus many others developed, studied, and refined since Mark's experience, are used in practice at PosiCoach.
